The Autonomy for Albertans Act

A series of measures designed to protect or increase Albertans personal autonomy, financial autonomy, food autonomy, professional autonomy, community autonomy and Alberta’s autonomy within Canada.

A Jean Government will:

  • Introduce a non-resident employer payroll tax for companies that employ out of province and out of country “fly in-fly out” workers. If you make your money in Alberta and take an Alberta job, you should pay taxes in Alberta.
  • Stop paying Alberta grants, scholarships, bursaries and grants out of province.
  • Change post secondary regulations to give preference to qualified Alberta students for every in-demand academic program. If there aren’t enough seats for qualified Albertans, the post secondary institution can not use any government money to create seats for out-of-province or out-of-country students.
