FORT MCMURRAY – On November 20, 2006, the Standing Committee on Natural Resources, chaired by Calgary Centre MP Lee Richardson and attended by local MP Brian Jean, will by stopping in Fort McMurray to tour the facilities of Syncrude Canada Ltd.

The Committee, currently studying the oil sands, will be partaking in helicopter and ground tours of the Syncrude sites, as well as lunching with CEO, Charles Ruigrok. “I commend the Committee’s efforts in traveling to Fort McMurray to fully experience the magnitude of the oil sands developments. It’s something that must be witnessed first hand, as mere words cannot describe the massive production that is the oil sands,” says Jean.

Following the Syncrude tour, the Committee will return to Ottawa to continue their study of the oil sands and will subsequently table a report in early 2007.
