Dear Editor:
Two years ago Canadians chose change. When Canadians took a step forward and elected Stephen Harper as the Prime Minister of Canada, our Conservative Government began to take action. The Liberals had been in power for 13 years and Canadians were tired of lots of talk and no action. Canadians are now relieved that this two-year old Conservative Government continues to get positive things done.
When we start to take a look at the many actions taken by our Conservative Government such as the Building Canada infrastructure plan, the $10 million New Horizons for Seniors Program and the Universal Child Care Benefit which provides parents with $100 per month for each child under age of six, it makes me proud of our accomplishments. Even more initiatives include the $270 million Homelessness Partnering Strategy, the Food and Consumer Safety Action Plan, and the many new Tough on Crime laws to protect our young people.
In his two-year anniversary speech on January 25th, Prime Minister Harper reminded us that two years ago “Canadians replaced an agenda designed to make the government strong with a government committed to making the country strong…In these achievements, we should feel proud but not boastful… Because these achievements are not ours alone. These achievements result from the hard work and determination of millions of Canadian citizens who build our economy with their hard work, set the nation’s moral compass by teaching their children right from wrong, and make our communities better by giving more than they take. The success is theirs.”
Congratulations Canada.
In this time of positive change and real action, it is truly a privilege and honour to be arguing for the priorities of the people of Northern Alberta in Ottawa. I continue to welcome input from constituents and want to hear from you about your concerns as well as about your pride in our country. I hope you will all continue to work with me to make our home even stronger and even better.
Sincerely,
Brian Jean, MP
