Today, Brian Jean, Member of Parliament for Fort McMurray – Athabasca, returned to Ottawa for the beginning of the fall session of Parliament. After National and Provincial Caucus meetings today and tomorrow, he will return to his seat in the House of Commons on Monday, for what promises to be an exciting and ambitious session.
“Canada’s New Government has accomplished a great many things over the summer, but the fall looks like it will be even busier. Some of the first things on the legislative agenda are bringing the softwood lumber deal’s enabling legislation to the House, continuing our commitment to Made-In-Canada environmental solutions by focusing on clean air, water, and land through practical solutions, and passing the Federal Accountability Act which is the toughest anti-corruption law in Canadian history,” explained Mr. Jean.
“I have had a great summer in the constituency and I have had a chance to meet with many constituents and community leaders. I received a lot of valuable input and feedback from the residents of Fort McMurray – Athabasca, and I am really looking forward to bringing all that I have learned back to Ottawa, enabling me to give an even stronger voice to the people who elected me to represent them.” said Mr. Jean.
“Although it is always tough to readjust to the long absences from my friends and family, I feel very fortunate that they understand that it is a part of my job, and they know that I miss them like crazy when I’m away,” he revealed.
“Canada’s New Government is striving to give Canadians the accountable, democratic institution they desire – and deserve, and Canadians finally have a Prime Minister who keeps his promises. I am very proud to be a part of this Conservative Government and I am very excited to return to Parliament to continue to get things done for all Canadians,” he said.
