CN Tower Anniversary

So, I’m very happy to say that after 43 years, I have finally reached the top of the CN Tower. Wow, what a view!

There’s no better in this city and it reaffirms just how magnificent this tower truly is.

In addition to his responsibilities as the Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities, Minister Cannon is also accountable to Parliament — that is, to all Canadians — for 19 Crown Corporations, including the Canada Lands Company, owner and operator of the CN Tower. 

Canada Lands Company is an organization which is proving to be a true success in terms of partnership in its many real estate projects, and its operation of the CN Tower is an example of its success in creating legacies for communities.

One of the goals of the Minister’s portfolio is to ensure that Canada has the kind of infrastructure – transportation, transit, environmental, such as water and wastewater treatment facilities– that we need to keep our country competitive internationally and to provide a sustainable, high quality of life for our citizens and communities.  

Facilities throughout the country such as the CN Tower have played a vital role in contributing to the recreational and cultural offerings that Canadians and visitors to Canada enjoy. 

The federal government recognizes the important contribution of tourism to the Canadian economy. 

As a defining symbol of tourism, the CN Tower has not only welcomed millions of visitors from Canada and around the world, for 30 years it has been a true ambassador of Canadian hospitality, representing the quality of cultural and recreational experiences to be found in our great country.

Demonstrating Canadian ingenuity, innovation, and engineering accomplishment on the world stage, the CN Tower is truly an enduring Canadian icon. 

All Canadians can be proud of the achievements being celebrated today.
