Brian Jean is a lifetime resident of Fort McMurray, Alberta where he has lived since 1968 after moving from Kelowna B.C. at the age of four.  He attended Dr. Clark and Clearwater Elementary Schools, Peter Pond Junior High school, and Composite High school in Fort McMurray after which he went on to achieve International Bachelor’s degrees in science and law, and a Masters degree in Business Administration.

Mr.  Jean was first elected to the House of Commons in 2004 and re-elected in 2006 and 2008.  In 2004, he was appointed as Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Transport, Infrastructure, and Communities where he played an integral role in the passing of four new laws that benefitted Canadian rail and marine sectors.  He was re-appointed once again to this post by Prime Minister Harper in November, 2008.

Mr. Jean was also appointed by the Prime Minister to sit on the Special Legislative Committee on C-30, Canada’s Clean Air Act and has frequently been requested to attend additional Committees including:  the Standing Committee on the Environment, Human Resources and Social Development, National Defence, and the Special Legislative Committee on Bill C-2 - our Tackling Violent Crime Act.

As a father of three and avid outdoorsman, Mr. Jean has always believed North-eastern Alberta to be a great place to live, work, and raise a family.  Before being elected to Parliament, he gained experience throughout the region as a farm hand, logger, publisher, small business owner, college instructor, and lawyer.  He also served his community as Chair of the Alberta Summer Games, President of the Fort McMurray Downtown Business Association, a director of the local Chamber of Commerce, and as Honorary Chair of the Children’s Health Foundation.
